The children had a great time riding their trikes and scooters in the fire lane and practicing their traffic and safety skills while out on the open road! They were busy washing their cars at the car wash
and refueling with gas before getting back on the busy streets at St. Matthew’s!
We had a great turnout for Donuts for Dads. The children loved having their dads at school, presenting them with a special gift and enjoying donuts of course! Thanks so much to our special moms, Lynn Trichel and Melissa Smith for bringing in the donuts, coffee and juice!
It has been a fun and festive December with the children’s adorable Christmas Pageant and the retelling of the Christmas Story and celebration of Jesus’ birth. It was fun to carol with the kids and hear their Christmas wishes they would be whispering to Santa. Glitter, glitter, and more glitter… our room was all a sparkle with the season of Christmas, Advent Wreaths, candy canes, angels and stars! We hope your holidays at home were joyous and your New Year’s celebrations bright! Happy New Year!
We have learned so much this fall! All about pumpkins, apples, fall leaves, squares, diamonds, 3 and 4, how to give thanks and so much more! We have been over the river and through the woods on a pumpkin and leaf hunt. We have observed apples and predicted which ones would taste best and took a survey of our favorites. Fall has been a sight for all our senses and it has been fun learning about it all and sharing it with our loving families as we gathered for our Thanksgiving Feast. What a treat!
The children learned so much from the firefighters about fire safety and really enjoyed watching firefighter Leon put on all that equipment. Some were even brave enough to go up and touch him with his scary looking outfit on. They learned that firemen are our friends and want to help us. They also climbed into the truck to see what it is like. We covered other fire safety information as well: Stop, Drop, and Roll / Get Low and Go!/ and the emergency number 911.
