Mrs. Dugat, Lead

My name is Kathy Dugat and it is my great privilege to teach Kindergarten at St. Matthew’s Episcopal School. This will be my third year as the Kindergarten teacher at St. Matthew’s, but I have a long history with this very special place.  I was an assistant to Betty Davis in the Toddler classroom when my youngest son was a toddler.  I followed my year in the toddler program with six years as a lead teacher with St. Matthew’s three year olds.  From the three year old program, I moved to second grade at Hill Elementary, and then back to St. Matthew’s to serve as Children’s Minister for the church until Pam Littlefield invited me to teach Pre-K for the fall of 2000.  That was ten years ago!  Each year has been a wonderful blessing…and I know this one will be too!    In addition to being a full time teacher, I am a wife, mother, daughter, Assistant Boy Scout Leader, and full time volunteer – and I love every minute of it all!  I hold a bachelor’s degree in “Curriculum and Instruction” and a master’s degree in “Diagnosis and Remediation.”  In addition to teaching every day, I am the Curriculum Coordinator for the school and am honored to lead our Chapel services.  Although I can hardly believe it, I have now accumulated more than twenty years of experience teaching.  I am the proud mother of two incredible young men, Will and Josh, who have both graduated from college and are doing their best to make this world a better place.  My husband, Bill, is an attorney.  We have been married for 30 amazing years.  During the summers I enjoy being “out of doors,” cooking, doing all sorts of crafts and projects, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and watching old movies.  During the school year my favorite activity is taking a nap any time I can squeeze one in!
It is indeed a privilege and an honor to be able to spend time with your child this year.  It is important that we – parents and school – work together as a team to help your little one grow to his or her maximum potential over these next few months.  It is my job to set the stage and make materials available in our classroom each day so that your child can be about the serious work of become a lifelong learner with a passion for learning and life.
I look forward to an absolutely wonderful year with your child.  Please feel free to give me a call or send me an email if you have questions.  Thank you for sharing your little one with me!  Get ready for the fun to begin!

God’s peace,
Kathy Dugat
